  1. How to Speed Up Internet Connection XP

    Changing Network Card Speed

    • 1.Click on the "Start" button.
    • 2.Click on the "Control Panel" button.
    • 3.Click on the "Network Connections" button.
    • 4.Right-click on the "Local Area Connection" button then click on "Properties" to open the "Local Area Connection Properties" window.
    • 5.Click on the "Configure" button. This will open a new window.
    • 6.Click on the "Advanced" tab.
    • 7.Select "Media Type" in the Properties window by clicking on it once to highlight it with your mouse.
    • 8.Go to the "Value" drop-down menu and select "100 MB, Full Duplex." Click "OK."

    Tune Up Your Bandwidth Limit

    • 1.Click the "Start" button.
    • 2.Click "Run." This will open a small window. Type "gpedit.msc" in the box next to "Open." Click "OK." This will open the "Group Policy" window.
    • 3.Click on "Administrative Templates" in the right hand window, then "Network," and finally "QoS Packet Scheduler."
    • 4.Double-click on "Limit Reservable Bandwidth" in the left hand window. This will open the "Limit Reservable Bandwidth Properties" window.
    • 5.Click on the "Settings" tab. Click on the circle next "Enabled" to select it.
    • 6.Go to the "Bandwidth Limit %" box and decrease the percentage from 20 percent to 0 percent by clicking on the down arrow. Click "OK" and restart your Internet connection.
